I loved everything about the museum. The education, the beautiful art and the games. Loved the mechanical bull but even better was the slide I took to go to the bar. I have been wanting to come forever and it did not disappoint.

We went in early August 2026, 2.5 hours before closing. We bought tickets when we arrived. There was no waiting. All of the staff were very helpful. It was my first time there and my partner's 3rd. He said only 2 things were the same as the previous times he has been. So what you read here may not be your experience. The first floor was full of historical sexual artifacts with descriptions. The second and 3rd floors were art. And then there was super fun land! If you love hands-on museums, you will love this part. It starts with a short movie, and then you go to a kaleidoscope room with cut outs that have short video clips of historical facts. Then you move into the game area. This is where my experience is different from a lot of the negative reviews. Nearly all the games were free for us. Only riding the bull was an additional 5$ everything else we got one free play with our entry ticket. And the games were a blast! And my partner and I wound up with 3 small plushies as prizes. It is definitely catered to couples but you can still have a great time with a friend too. If you find sex as an academic subject interesting, you will love this museum.

My wife and I wanted to try something a little different on our trip to NYC, so we bought the Museum of Sex couples package. While we really wanted to like this, it just didn’t do it for us. Initially there is a wide degree of displayed historical erotic items, but the museum rapidly developed a pretty big focus on fairs and carnivals, explaining their role in sexual liberation. This segued into several different carnival games with prizes to win. One of our prizes was a small stuffed “poop emoji”. Maybe some find stuffed poop sexy, but I suspect it’s a minority. I may not be a sexologist, but it felt like much of the displays centered around sex in the 1900’s. Yes, there was the occasional ancient Mesopotamian sex display, and we got to see modern dildo’s mounted to powertools, but the 1900’s focus just seemed like an excuse to have us interact with more games. It should be noted that not all exhibits were carnival games. There is one particular exhibit billed as “4d” eroticism. While this had potential for sexiness, the accompanying computer assisted designed film was…..something. I’m not quite sure exactly what it was, but it sure was something. Perhaps some find CGI clitoris that spray and smoke sexy, or a trip down an esophagus erotic….just not this guy. Overall, the staff seemed to be having a bad day, with a surprisingly frequent amount of scowling, besides our bartender who was friendly. The included drinks were solid, but for the 75 dollars we each paid we would have enjoyed more choices. Overall, we wish we could give this a more positive review, but we left the museum more puzzled than intrigued.

Interesting galleries that show artifacts around the history of sex in society. At the end of the tour are carnival type games that are sex themed.. lots of fun! There was no wait to get in and you can experience everything in a couple of hours!

Amazing experience, we did the couples package and it was definitely worth it. The museum part is very intriguing and educational. If you like oddities then this part will be very enjoyable. After that is the fun rooms with games and fun experiences. If you choose the couples package then all the games are free, if not, they are 5$ each, and are very easy to win. The package also came with two free cocktails at the end, and a package of “goodies” for you and your significant other. Overall, it was a top 10 experience in New York
