Afterline è lo storico gay bar di Via Sammartini, a pochi passi da Milano Centrale. È stato uno dei primi luoghi di ritrovo per la comunità gay italiana, ha una lunga storia e un elenco di ospiti che ha incluso nomi ben noti della cultura e dello spettacolo, e ha riaperto sotto una nuova gestione all'inizio del 2017 con la sala completamente ristrutturata. Ha mantenuto la sua descrizione originale di se stesso — un disco bar — ed è aperto al pubblico, senza necessità di tessera associativa.

La settimana si articola su due dimensioni. Da domenica a giovedì è la piccola sala; venerdì, sabato e le grandi occasioni — Natale, Capodanno, Carnevale, Halloween, San Valentino, Mister Afterline — sono la grande. Giovedì ha un nome tutto suo: SEXY Bar, servito da un cameriere erotico. Due DJ e un go-go boy animano le serate più affollate, e il locale elenca WiFi e uno spogliatoio tra quello che offre.

Mister Afterline è l'evento per cui il locale è conosciuto — un concorso stagionale che il bar organizza autonomamente, e secondo quanto dichiara una serata elettrizzante dove i concorrenti danno il massimo. Le richieste di informazioni si accettano solo tramite messaggio WhatsApp; il locale chiede chiaramente di non telefonare, perché non risponderà.

This place is fine until you try and go to the toilet. Three times I was propositioned by gay escorts. When I told them I wasn’t looking for that, two of them just went away and it was ok - I’m not naive and didn’t think too much of it. But just before leaving I went to the quieter area downstairs looking for the toilets there (hoping to avoid what happened upstairs earlier), and a 3rd guy wouldn’t take no for an answer. After several minutes, I was virtually begging for him to leave me alone and starting to raise my voice to get help (although this was ignored by the other few (escort) guys around who clearly knew what was happening), before he let me go, after which I left as quickly as possible. I honestly thought he or others around were going to mug or hurt me - left me feeling scared and very anxious. I see that there are several other reviews here about the same issue - this place is dangerous - be warned!

Staff was very nice but the place smells smoke and dirty things ! People rude the mood is so weird makes you feel so uncomfortable ! People most of them are like prostitute classless ! Can’t relate I felt very uncomfortable among those people ! Couldnt wait to get out of it ! The place is huge with renovation and selection it could be a nice place and a great one ! Too bad ! I felt so unsafe I was close to my belongings the whole time !

Was about to be mugged here. A middle eastern guy took me in a dark room in a basement and locked me in and started demanding money. Luckily the door was not locked properly and i could run out of the club. Complete sham right under the owners nose..don't know why police does not raid this place.

The drinks are good and the bar building/vibe is good. That being said, if you’re Black or from the US expect to be charged a 5 euro charge. I walked in and my partner and I were immediately told we had to pay 5€ (a reasonable price) except we were the only 2 who were told to pay as an Asian and Black guy. The vibe of the bar is a little bit sketchy, I didn’t feel unsafe but I did feel like I was being stared at all night. Overall, I’d say go if you are with a group of 4-6 people who will watch out for each other. If you’re by yourself, go somewhere else. It can be sketchy for somebody alone.
