SNCTM's September NYC Masquerade carries its own theme — Après L'amour, which the club describes as a fever dream of romance and everything that lingers afterwards. The rooms are dressed for the hour that comes after: rosy light, lace and lingerie, soft and unhurried and deliberately a little dishevelled.

A series of what it calls breathless fantasies runs through the evening — some you come upon in passing, some find you where you stand, and the rest it declines to name in advance on the grounds that these ceremonies keep their shape better unannounced.

Dress is black tie for gentlemen — tuxedo and bowtie. Ladies may choose evening wear or lingerie, or both. Masks are worn until they are not.

Tickets are not sold openly: the event is marked Approved Only, and buying requires an account or a membership application. The address goes to approved guests rather than being published.
