The room was spacious and didn't smell like smoke—that was thoughtful. Some facilities could use improvement.

Please be aware of the rates during the New Year holidays, Golden Week, and Obon. It seems that special rates apply for more than a week before and after holidays, so there's a possibility of being charged special rates for nearly three weeks in total. Furthermore, despite no indication of special rates on the website, at the hotel, or even after entering the room, I was charged double the normal price. The room normally costs around ¥7000, but I was charged double. Since there was no detailed explanation, I asked the front desk, but they simply said, "It's a special rate period." I checked the panel on my way out, but there was no indication of special rates anywhere. I don't know how they calculate it, but be aware that you might be charged the highest rate listed.

The phone service was terrible. The woman on the phone was very bossy and spoke in a condescending manner. I was being polite and respectful, so what was her attitude? She hung up before I could even finish saying "excuse me," which makes me wonder how she's managed to function in society until now. I inquired about a lost item, and when I called immediately, I was told that the cleaning wasn't finished yet and they would contact me if they found it. Later, when I called again, they said it wasn't there, even though it definitely should have been. I don't know if the cleaning staff pocketed it, but I think it's best to assume you won't get your lost item back.

The price list in the room should be posted on the sign outside. I stayed in room C, and the price was completely different from what was on the sign. Be careful, once you enter, the door is locked, and you won't be able to leave until you pay.

Hotel U'S properties are NOT foreigner friendly! While shopping around for a room during a brief stay in Osaka, I took a look at Hotel U'S with the assistance of a native Japanese friend. I was looking for a room for myself to stay the night. When we inquired about the membership for the lower room rates, the person on the phone asked if I also spoke fluent Japanese and asked for me to get on the phone to test my Japanese language skills! Although I know very basic Japanese, I refused. Solely based on my limited Japanese speaking skills, management at U'S decided they would not allow me to stay at their property. Perhaps U'S is not aware of it, but, in present times, it is very easy to get by with a common translation app. And, since everything is typically automated from check in to checkout at a love hotel, that's all you really need. They are basically all the same system. But, for some reason, if you do not speak Japanese, U'S Hotels does not want your business at their properties. So, if you are a tourist, avoid the U'S hotel properties by all means. There are other similar hotels at similar hotels right next door with comparable rooms and rates that happily accept foreigners and their money. PS: They also do not allow multiple men in one room (they assumed my friend and I were intending to stay together - we weren't). So, if that is your situation or you are a same-sex couple, they will not permit you.
