La Marquise Effrontée is a libertine club in Limoges, on the Rue Philippe Lebon, and it plays its setting up: a discreet door, a chic and baroque interior, and a festive room behind it. What the club lists for itself is a licence-IV bar and a dance floor, a good many coins coquins, a dungeon, a 100-square-metre terrace, and a jacuzzi that takes up to thirty people with towels provided. Its own photographs show the dance floor with its poles and baroque armchairs, and a bar built into stone arches.

Consent is written into the club's own copy rather than left implied: respect is an absolute rule, a no is always a no with no justification owed, and exchanges must be consented, kind and clear.

Thursday is the gentle one — open from 15:00 to midnight as a Chill & Play afternoon and evening, with a happy hour from 18:00 and a drink included with admission, and towels allowed anywhere in the club including at the bar. Friday, 22:00 to three, is the chic and sensual night, and towels are not allowed at the bar or on the dance floor so the room stays dressed; once a month Friday is reserved for couples and single women. Saturday, 22:00 to four, is the loud one. There is no admission in the two hours before closing, and the club warns that its hours and prices vary by night and by event, so read the poster for the night you want. Prices are not quoted here.
