I read the reviews both good and bad. I read the answers and thought, "A little unprofessional." But hope springs eternal and off I went arriving at 8.50 pm. I rang the bell on one side of the external door, no reply. To the left on the street there was a camera with a bell. All to no avail. I dialed the telephone number and informed them on a recording that I was outside. The door buzzer opened. Down the steps in the court yard. The door abruptly swung open and I was castigated immediately and aggressively." No- one is here anymore. All your ringing won't change that." If I were not so familliar with Southern German accents and dialects I would have been ill-positioned to understand the torrent of explicatives that flowed in my direcrion. I was acutely aware of a certain lack of sophistication and refinement, normally given to one by a proper education, that marred this interaction from the beginning. I indicated to her that her manners were somewhat lacking and that the things written in many ireviews were clearly true. As I stated that I would add my review too, she slammed the door in my face. Such manners do not earn either my money or yours. No doubt the sauna will come back with some terse excuse like the ones I read under other negative comments. I was apparently this according to her or I was that. In all reality, I was nothing but polite until the tsunami of cachophony that tore through the door at me. I speak fluent German with a perfect German accent. So no language problems can be used as an excuse. When she screamed her strange retort at me for having the audacity to ring the two different bells with "SAUNA" written on them, I informed her rather quickly that I was not in possession of a crystal ball and thus could not see how many people were there. Please note, it was stated on their website that calls asking how many people are in the club would not be NOT appreciated. Before you decide to go or not, please do this. Read the reviews. Believe the negative ones. As a linguist ( I thought I was overthinking) I felt the positive ones sounded a little off. They felt constructed. Be that as it may, it was profoundly disappointing behaviour that no client of any establishment should tolerate. Make your own judgement. Mine was wrong and I paid for it by having to tolerate an experience I would not wish on anyone. ADDITION FOLLOWING RESPONSE FROM THE SAUNA: Nothing surprising here. I would ask anyone to read the owner's reply. Consider the level of unprofessionalism. This I had previously noticed when reading replies from Papillon to previous bad reviews. Again, I gave the club the benefit of the doubt and went there. although the unprofessional replies already represented a red flag that I should have paid more attention to. Read the owner's answer. For a bi-sexual party venue he now wants his clients and potential clients to publish their photos. This reveals the nature of this establishment and the people who work there better than anything I could write. Of course make your own decission. I hope my description added to the others and above all the replies from the sauna management itself will help you make the correct decision for you. It's a great city and many great places to have fun in. I most certainly did. A venue with such low standards of social intercourse and with such a lack of professionalism is not for me. Note especially the comment about ringing the bell. A foreigner standing on a strange street in darkness well within the opening times advertised and no response coming from bells placed on either side of the door. Read that comment well, it reveals so much. Traveller be aware. Indeed, not just I myself, but anyone who has read all the reviews and still visits this venue must be very desperate. On this point we agree.

Not a bad idea for a local entertainment venue. Very clean, slightly worn, totally in tune with most similar clubs in Vienna. Don't expect crowds of people, rather adult "youths" who will stubbornly follow your every move if you are a couple :) The game rooms are well equipped and with proper lighting. We have a small remark about the choice of music layout - quiet but old rock, which is great for a beer hall but not for this place.

Papillon Sauna is SAFE and CLEAN and welcoming. Diana, who greeted us, gave us a tour and made us feel at home. When we left, after having bought several drinks, our bill was exactly correct. We went on a Thursday afternoon and there were mostly men, mostly old there. But you can’t blame the business for that. If you’re looking for females go on a couples night (if there is one). But the business, itself, is 5 stars!
