Why this order

Scarlett's is the most complete night out in the city. It runs a kitchen, has ten private dance booths, two VIP-level suites and four liquor suites that look onto the stage, and shows local games and UFC on its screens.

Diamond Cabaret is the polished alternative. Cigars come from a walk-in humidor and you smoke them at your table, the kitchen stays open late, and on Thursday to Saturday nights the party moves upstairs to Diamond After Dark, which runs until 4 a.m.

PT's Showclub on West Evans has the most stages on the list, seven across two floors, and a full bar. Its sister club, PT's Centerfold in southeast Denver, has three stages and admits guests from 18 and opens at 11 a.m. every day except Sunday.

Rick's Cabaret, formerly La Boheme, is the downtown pick: a historic building next to the convention center, open from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. every night. Ladies en Confidente on Broadway is open around the clock. Players Club on North Federal Boulevard was founded in 1984 and describes itself as small and intimate; it opens at 11 a.m. every day.

Late nights and early starts

Denver's clubs keep very different hours, so match the club to the time. Ladies en Confidente is open 24 hours. Diamond Cabaret and PT's Showclub run until 4 a.m. from Thursday to Saturday, and PT's Centerfold and Players Club do the same on Friday and Saturday.

For a daytime visit, PT's Centerfold and Players Club both open at 11 a.m. Rick's Cabaret and Scarlett's open in the evening.
