The Best Strip Clubs in Philadelphia

Philadelphia has eight strip clubs we can stand behind this week, and most of them sit in the south of the city, on or just off South Columbus Boulevard. The rest are scattered: one in Center City, one on the edge of Northern Liberties, one in the Northeast, one in North Philadelphia and two out toward the airport.

Here they are in the order we would send someone, with the reasoning underneath.

Three clubs came out ahead of the rest and stayed there whichever way we compared them: Delilah's, Club Risqué and Cheerleaders are the names that recur, and they are the three we would put in front of someone with one night and no particular plan.

Below those, the ranking follows what a visitor is actually choosing between — how central the club is, how big a night it is set up for, and what it is genuinely good at. Delilah's and Club Risqué finished level on every measure we had, so we broke the tie for the reader rather than for the arithmetic: Delilah's is the more central of the two and the longer-established.

We hold no star ratings and we are not going to invent any. What we hold is the directory, and clubs we could not confirm are still open are not on this list at all.

South Philadelphia carries the most, with Club Risqué and Cheerleaders within a few minutes of each other near the Delaware waterfront. Sin City and Oasis sit further southwest, on the roads that run down toward the airport — handy on a layover, a trek from anywhere else.

The Gold Club is the only one inside Center City itself. Delilah's is just north of it, on Spring Garden Street. The Penthouse Club is out in the Northeast on Castor Avenue, and the Piccadilly is in North Philadelphia, well away from the rest.

If you are staying in Center City and want to walk, there is one option. Everything else is a ride.

The Gold Club is small on purpose — it calls itself an intimate venue combining a classic bar with live dancing, and that is a fair description. Club Risqué is the opposite end of the scale, one of three rooms its operator runs, and the biggest night out here.

Delilah's has been on Spring Garden Street for more than twenty-five years by its own account, which makes it the most established name in the city. Cheerleaders books named featured performers and puts the Eagles on, so it doubles as a sports room in a way none of the others do.

Sin City and the Penthouse Club both pitch upmarket, the Penthouse as part of a national group. Oasis is the airport-side option.

The Piccadilly is the outlier, and the most interesting room on the list: it describes itself as the first and original Black-owned gentlemen's club in Philadelphia, it caters to an over-30 crowd, and it opens every day of the week.

If the vocabulary is new: a lap dance and a private dance are not always the same product, and table dance means something specific again. Striptease is the stage show itself. The terms get used loosely in marketing and precisely at the till.

We hold more Philadelphia clubs than the eight above. Four are missing because we could not confirm this week that they are still open — their own websites have stopped answering, and a listing somewhere else is not good enough reason to send you across the city. That is not us saying they have closed. It is us saying we do not know, which is a different thing and the honest one.

One came off for a harder reason: its web address now serves an unrelated advertising page rather than a club. We removed the dead link from our own records the same day.
