The Best Strip Clubs in Portland

Portland's strip clubs are a genuine feature of the city rather than a sideline, and the good ones are not variations on a theme. One is a downtown institution that has been running for decades. One is entirely vegan. One runs karaoke with a dancer on stage. Three sit within a few blocks of each other on SE Powell.

The order below is ranked on how consistently each club is named, its character and its location. Both of the lists we compared are old — one from 2017, one from around 2019 — so every venue here was checked against its own website this week rather than taken on the guides' word.

Mary's Club on West Burnside is first. It is the club both lists name, it is downtown, and it is the one with genuine history behind it — the room people mean when they talk about Portland's scene rather than Portland's clubs.

Lucky Devil Lounge on SE Powell is second and the better choice if you want somewhere smaller with a kitchen that matters. Kit Kat Club on SW Ankeny is the central, compact option — easy to combine with a night that is not only about the club.

Devils Point out on SE Foster is the one to go to on the right night: it runs Stripparaoke, karaoke with a dancer on stage, and it is open from 2pm daily. Sassy's on SE Morrison has the best position of any club named only once — the Mercury put it second — and it is the pick for an alternative crowd.

Hawthorne Strip and Dv8 are neighbourhood rooms on SE Powell, unpretentious and open early. Casa Diablo on NW St Helens is the outlier worth a paragraph: it is the all-vegan club, it is a drive from everywhere, and it is the most distinctive room in the city.

Every address above was read off the venue's own website this week. The SE Powell three are the only genuine cluster — Lucky Devil, Hawthorne Strip and Dv8 are close enough to walk between. Casa Diablo is out on the north-west industrial edge and is a deliberate trip rather than a stop.

Two clubs other Portland guides rank are missing, and neither is closed as far as we know — we simply do not have listings for them yet. The Acropolis Steakhouse out on SE McLoughlin is the significant one: it is a Portland institution and any full account of the city would include it. Pirate's Cove is the other, and one of the two lists we compared puts it first.

Union Jacks on East Burnside is a third absence with a different cause: it is in our directory but not yet published, so it could not be included here. Its own website is live and confirms the club. We would rather name these gaps than present eight clubs as though they were the whole city.
