about

Sweet Paradise is an erotic theatre and bar at 12 rue Marie Stuart, in the Montorgueil quarter of central Paris. It calls itself a "bar à fantasmes" — a fantasy bar — and in its own English wording an adult entertainment venue, built around two rooms: one an intimate stage for erotic performances, the other a bar where drinks are served among a collection of erotic curiosities. It has been running since July 2020.

The stage runs more or less continuously through the opening day rather than putting on a single nightly show. Three blocks of short erotic pieces, performed by the venue's own company of artists (whom it calls Sweeties) and billed as "Les Songes" — the Dreams — fill the afternoon, the early evening and the late night, each separated by a short interval, and a ticket lets the holder come and go through the day. Between the evening and night blocks, at half past eight, sits a different headline production for each night of the week: when this page was written those were Orgasmic on Tuesdays, Uncensored on Wednesdays, an interactive Erotic Games and Strip Poker on Thursdays, the science-fiction revue Orgie Cosmique on Fridays, and Strip Poker on Saturdays. Some of the headline shows are explicit, and the venue says so plainly rather than hinting; others are immersive, with the audience choosing in advance how much interaction they want by taking a coloured wristband.

Beyond the auditorium there is a bar and snack service, a boutique — whose "wall of panties" it advertises as a fixture — a set of private rooms called the Boudoirs used for one-to-one erotic experiences after certain shows, and a "Bureau des Fantasmes" where visitors can talk through what they are curious about. Entry to the bar, the boutique and the Bureau des Fantasmes is free; the staged programme is ticketed. A membership scheme called Le Cercle carries reduced admission and priority access to occasional one-off events, and a VIP package combines a headline show, a drink at the interval and the late-night block.

Admission when this page was written was advertised at around €65 for an afternoon or evening Dreams session and €45 for the late-night one, with lower rates for members and set prices for couples, and the VIP package from about €59 solo — indications only, to be confirmed with the venue. It is open Tuesday to Saturday from a quarter to three in the afternoon until midnight, and closed on Sundays and Mondays. Nobody under eighteen is admitted, and the venue publishes a code of ethics governing what is and is not on offer. It is a short walk from Étienne Marcel on métro line 4 and about ten minutes from Châtelet–Les Halles.

A delightful little place with a warm, welcoming atmosphere — great shows, great crowd, and genuinely nice people all around. I had the pleasure of spending time with Nadja, watching her dance and enjoying a private show. She is lovely, adorable, and utterly captivating. I’ve been missing her ever since I left, and I’ll definitely be coming back to see her again next time I’m in Paris.

We (wife and myself) went to the 10.30pm show on Friday evening. Not knowing what to expect from this club, we really enjoyed ourselves. The club is split in two with a small bar and a small auditorium which holds around 20 people. There were four female acts on that evening, they perform short choreographed routines, all the girls were beautiful and ended up naked. Sweet Paradise is a bit of erotic fun, if you want to see a full cancan this is not the place. You can select a coloured wristband which indicates the level of participation in the show. Thank you for a fab evening.

This is an intimate underground 'Parisien' Cabaret in a similar style to Theatre ChoChotte on the other side of the river. The main difference between the two venues being that Sweet Paradise has a bar (which is cool!) and also runs a 'ticketed show' around 20:00 each evening. (I must confess, I have never been to the show - where the audience picks their level of participation through selecting a coloured bracelet - so I cannot comment on that). I have been to both the afternoon dreams (which start around 15:00) and evening dreams (which start after the main show performance around 22:30, and finishes around 00:00) a few times and enjoyed the performances. The dreams consist of 4 ladies performing a variety of part choreographed / part improvised shows lasting approximately 15 - 20 mins each. In total across the afternoon and evening dreams sessions 7 ladies perform. The stage is very small and there is generally interaction between the performer and the audience so the action is quite literally in front of your very eyes. The theatre is very small with a capacity of only about 15 people. Price was 65 euros (for a man) - only 45 euros if you only attend the night dreams. Not sure of the prices for females or couples. There is also the opportunity to have a personalised show with your favourite performer in a small boudoir (starting from 70 euros) - to arrange this, speak to the lady at the bar. Ultimately what makes this place is the performers. They are generally fun, playful, entertainers putting on a great show for you. Some are amazing, super creative, talented, attractive women who are well worth the entrance fee. Others less so. To conclude this is a really fun experience, I would recommend it and will defo visit again next time I am in Paris.

TL;DR avoid this like the plague if you’re looking for a seductive and erotic show with up-market burlesque acts. However, if you’re looking for a cringe-worthy C-grade musical comedy with nudity that serves no real purpose then you’re in the right place, read on. This was the worst live performance I’ve ever seen, made worse by misleading marketing and what must be paid-for reviews. My wife and I attended the Princesses show on a Friday night. We love burlesque and risqué adult shows, in fact Theatre Chochotte the night before was excellent, but Sweet Paradise was a trap. THE SHOW Marketed as an erotic and sultry adult spectacle, it is really an amateur comedy-musical. There were at least a dozen full singing musical numbers. The women (and I stress older women, not girls) wore cheap Disney costumes, performing what amounted to a porn parody without the eroticism. Yes, there was nudity and poorly simulated sex, but nothing sexy, classy, or even convincing. Every act was exaggerated slapstick, greeted with awkward silence from the audience. The show was pure cringe and killed any libido or sexual energy within minutes. Be warned: there’s also heavy use of strobe lights and smoke machines for a full theatre experience. LANGUAGE The entire show is in French. That matters because this is theatre comedy, not a body-language-driven burlesque. If you don’t understand French, you’ll endure two mind-numbing hours of incomprehensible dialogue and shouting. Audience “interaction” includes women screaming at you and shoving sex toys in your face which is totally pointless if you can’t follow the jokes. THE AUDIENCE & PARTICIPATION The crowd was half couples, half single men in a tiny venue. Participation is “consensual,” with wristbands marking involvement levels. Yet before the show, every couple was pulled aside and asked if they’d have real sex on stage. When we said no, we were pressed: would we strip? Would just my wife undress nude and kiss me? We flat out refused. The host seemed disappointed, saying “sex is what we are expecting by the end.” This was a major red flag. In practice, two couples made out briefly on stage, the men removed their own shirts, and the women looked visibly uncomfortable. One even seemed close to a panic attack. It was pathetic that performers expected audience hedonism to spice up their act. Real burlesque might involve playful interaction - holding a prop, light teasing, a little lap time - but not being coerced toward full on sex. While nothing was forced, it was clear what this theatre troupe wanted. Disgusting. FINAL THOUGHTS Go at your own risk. For us, the experience was awful and exploitative, leaving a sour taste. The glowing reviews online do not reflect reality. This is a C-grade comedy musical and they are expecting hedonists to make up the show, so you are essentially paying to be the act. If you want fun, sensual, safe adult entertainment in Paris, look elsewhere.

Interesting experience for the Evening Dreams Show. First girl in the show was the best, good dancer, and extremely sexy spicy performance; wife and I both enjoyed her A LOT. 2nd girl performing was not good at all, some weird cat outfit, and bad dancing. 3rd performance was ok, good dancing/music, but kinda dull. 4th performance was also very good, but again not as good as the first. Unfortunately the 5th performance was a repeat of the same girl for the 2nd, so we left. They could just do with those three good performers and cut the show by 30 minutes for a better experience. We might have stayed, but the room got extremely hot with to much smoke machine used choking out the air. In this case all shows might be best if kept to an hour. They need to work on the check-in process because no announcement was made that the show was starting, we just went in to find it started. Know that if you come as a couple, interactions with the show won't happen to the male counterpart if your significant other has a blue bracelet. They didn't mention this and my wife noticed. She wanted them to interact with me but they wouldn't and it made my wife feel weird. She asked me if I wanted her to sit elsewhere, which of course I did not, but it made the show overall less entertaining for me. I think the pricing is fair at the €35 we paid each, but if you compare it to other attractions for the same price in the city, the value starts to diminish (maybe add a free drink or something low cost to increase value compared to other attractions). You certainly can't expect them to charge less, as there are 5 performers over 1.5 hours, it wouldn't be fair to all those involved. Infact I feel these girls must be severely underpaid, maybe banking on private shows after (which we didn't know existed until reading the reviews, which was disappointing because we would have absolutely done a private show with the first girl). We would come back and give another show a try, but as we are visiting Paris (likely for the last time), unfortunately I don't think this will happen for us.
