Spectrum ABQ describes itself as an ethical non-monogamy community for New Mexico, a place to connect with ENM people, lifestylers and kinksters. In practice its public calendar is a rope programme: informal rope socials, beginner-friendly shibari classes, and regular community socials.

The rope evenings run with KnotScience_NM. The socials are free and open, and the classes are aimed at complete beginners as much as at people who already tie. Mats are provided and community rope can be borrowed, so a first-timer needs to bring nothing but comfortable clothes.

Membership is not optional and cannot be arranged on the night — the community states that in capitals on its own front page, and points newcomers at a required profile before anything else. It also co-presents KinkToberFest, New Mexico's kink festival, alongside NM-REAL and Purgatory Dungeon.
